What is Kybella?

 

Kybella is an FDA - approved prescription medicine used to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin. It is a bile acid, or Deoxycholic acid, which is a manmade form of a substance your body makes. This substance permanently destroys the fat cells that are located where it is injected.

When will I see results with Kybella?

 

The majority of people who receive Kybella usually see the full effect within 4-6 weeks after their initial treatment.

How long will the results of Kybella last?

 

Kybella causes the permanent destruction of fat cells in the area it is administered in. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat again. Once you have reached your desired aesthetic result, further treatment is not needed.

 

How many treatments of Kybella do I need?

How long will my appointment of Kybella take?

 

Kybella is a quick treatment. However, depending on the fullness of the treatment area and the number of vials you’ll need, you may get anywhere from 20 to 50 small, quick injections in the area. It may only take only 15- 25 minutes but can take up to 60 minutes.

How long is the downtime with Kybella?

 

Kybella requires little to no recovery time. However, post-treatment swelling may occur, and will peak for typically 20 to 28 hours after the procedure. It will likely begin to subside after roughly 48 hours. By day three you should not experience any significant swelling.

Am I a good candidate for Kybella?

 

Kybella is a great option to adults who wish to target and eliminate fat in a specific area, such as below the chin. What are the possible side effects of Kybella?

 

It is possible that Kybella could cause the following; Injuries to nerves the jaw, difficulty swallowing, injection site problems, including bruising, hair loss, ulcers, damage and necrosis around the injection site. In the unlikely circumstance of the signs of these effects arising, please call us immediately. The most common side effects of Kybella include swelling, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment area.
